About Me

Wife. Mom. Husker. Bobcat. Runner. Beer Snob.

Hello! I’m Abby Jacobs (Sports Biz Mom) – a new Detroit area resident, looking for my next challenge alongside my husband, Ben, and our son Fraser.   I grew up in rural Nebraska, but have lived in Southern California, Kansas City, Ohio, Brooklyn, Milwaukee, and now Michigan!   I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and am a proud alumna of the Ohio University Sports Administration Program.

I love running, a sharp IPA or stout, scotch tape, bad documentaries, baseball, advocating for the homeless and pretending  I know how to cook.  I have been involved in the sports industry in some capacity since college, and have experience with collegiate and professional sports properties, agencies and brands.

Not only have I pursued a career in sports, I also married someone doing the same.  After several years working for a vendor in the industry, my husband recently took on a new role with the Detroit Tigers.  So, not only do I have my own professional perspective to share, but our Sports Biz Family is now also navigating life in baseball.

I started Sports Biz Mom in the hopes of providing a resource and network for Moms (or those who eventually hope to be Moms) working in the sports and entertainment industry.  When I first became a parent I found it difficult to find examples of Mothers succeeding in the industry, and I felt it was important to share the stories of those leading the way.  I believe women should be able to be personally and professionally ambitious, and my goal with this site is to develop, encourage and support other Moms in doing so.

You can find Sports Biz Mom on Facebook and me on Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn at the links below.
